What is Balimo™ ?

Balimo, Exercises The word Balimo™ is derived from a play on words - Balance in Motion. It is a system of movement and balance training devised by Eckart Meyners, an expert in body mechanics, kinesiology, and sports physiology. As a professor at the University of Luneberg in Luneberg, Germany, he has distinguished himself as a true Master in the field of motion. Behind the apparent simplicity of Mr. Meyners' methodology and exercises is years of research and integration. EES and the Balimo™ Program make this knowledge accessible and applicable to every interested instructor and rider.

There are several unique aspects of Mr. Meyners Balimo™ Program which make it especially beneficial to riding instructors and their students. Mr. Meyners believes that there is not one "correct" seat/position for all riders; rather, that there is a correct seat for each individual rider. To achieve this position, Mr. Meyners focuses on the rider's ability to find balance in motion, which he considers to be the most important ingredient in successful riding. Balance in motion is made possible by having equal access and coordination of all muscles in the body. It is also an absence of blockages in the body (both physical and mental). Finally, it involves balanced brain function, as it relates to movement.

Another unique aspect of the Balimo™ Program is Mr. Meyners' effective method for teaching motion and feel. This methodology, called "task teaching", provides the time and process-oriented approach such that rider has the opportunity to develop the correct muscle memory necessary for effective and enjoyable riding.

Eckart, instructing The Balimo™ Program offers instructors vital tools that enhance their effectiveness as instructors by teaching them to be both educators and motion mediators. Mr. Meyners' methods and exercises are practical and easy to implement as a part of a regular lesson program. Through the use of "task teaching" and simple exercises performed on and off the horse, riders will feel immediate improvement in their own and their horse's performance. Simultaneously, they will be training muscle memory for long-term proper form and function. Mr. Meyners' program teaches instructors how to integrate feel and motion to teach more effectively with a faster response time and longer-lasting results.
