Nancy J. Baker OH
Nancy Baker has over 30 years of experience as a full time equestrian professional. Nancy trained and rode both hunter and event horses until finally finding the discipline that captured her passion: Dressage.
She sought out high level instruction, and was lucky enough to study with Olympic Rider and Dressage Trainer Sidley Payne of Willington, Delaware. She has also studied with Karl Mikolka, Kathy Connelly, Michael Poulin, Carol Lavell, Oded Shimoni, Uwe Stiener and Carole Grant.
Nancy has trained students and horses to Grand Prix and has won many national and regional awards. She has her Bronze, Silver and Gold medals, is an L judge with distinction, and was 1997 Vintage Grand Prix Champion with her beloved horse Lowenprinz. She clinics all over the US and has imported many horses for her clients that are greatly appreciated for their suitability and character.
Realizing early on in her career the importance of the seat, Nancy focused her attention on learning how the body functioned. There was very little information at that time, so she investigated the works of Feldenkrais, Alexander Technique, Sally Swift, and Mary Walness to get a better understanding of how the body interacts with the horse and its movement. This journey has taken a lifetime of studying, exploring and honing her intuitive inner eye. Even though she had a well-established Dressage career and was well known for her ability to teach riders how to develop their seats, when she read a small ad in Dressage Today about EES/Balimo Seat Symposium in Texas she still wanted to continue getting further education. When she left the symposium she knew she wanted to be part of this educational program. Now a graduate of the Balimo Program she is excited to share her years of knowledge and experience helping others to their highest potential in riding through unlocking the mystery of the seat, creating harmony and balance in motion.
