Beth Beukema, MA

Beth Beukema holds a M.S. of Equine Physiology & B. S. Animal Science from the University of Mass., Amherst and is currently an Associate Professor of Equine Studies at Johnson & Wales University where she directs the Center for Equine Studies. She has been involved in education since 1973 and been at Johnson & Wales University since 1982. Beth has a broad experience in the educational field and has taught a variety of academics including: anatomy and physiology, nutrition, farm management, equine diseases, horse show management, and applied courses in horse selection and dressage.

She enjoys developing students in the many aspects of the horse industry to find the best fit for their individual talents.

Beth holds U. S. Equestrian Federation Dressage 'R' and Eventing "r" judging cards and USDF silver and bronze medals. As President of the Intercollegiate Dressage Association and member of the USDF IMO committee Beth is dedicated to developing dressage enthusiasm in college riders. Beth also serves on the Advisory Committee for Equestrian Educational Systems and is active in the NEDA through hosting numerous symposiums at the Johnson and Wales University Center for Equine Studies.

As a rider Beth credits numerous mentors and currently rides with Shannon Dueck, member of the Canadian equestrian team. She has ridden in clinics recently with some of the greats in the industry including: Ulla Salzgeber, Anky van Grunsven, Bert Rutten, and Kathy Connelly.

"I have been involved with Eckart Meyners since April 2004 when I was immediately drawn to his teaching after seeing him transform riders through his methods. The results are remarkable and I hope to bring his teaching to the college students so that the next generation of instructors and riders has access to these powerful tools".
